The vivo X Fold6 goes on sale in India today, October 13, 2026, at ₹2,19,999 for the single 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version. It is available from the vivo India e-store, Flipkart, Amazon and partner retail stores in Nebula Teal and Prism Black, with launch offers that include up to ₹26,400 instant cashback and three months of Google AI Pro.

Okay, let me get the number out of the way first, because I winced too. Two lakh twenty thousand rupees is a lot of phone money. Last year’s X Fold5 launched here at ₹1,49,999, so this is a big step up. But vivo has not simply bumped the price and called it a day. The X Fold6 has a 6,900mAh battery in a foldable, a 200MP main camera, and a new version of OriginOS that is clearly built around the big inner screen. So is it worth it? I have gone through vivo’s official launch details so you do not have to squint at the fine print yourself.

vivo X Fold6 price in India and where to buy

There is one variant only: 12GB RAM with 512GB storage at ₹2,19,999, taxes included. Pre-booking opened on October 6 when the phone was announced at the vivo NEXT event, and open sales begin today. You can pick it up from:

  • The vivo India e-store
  • Flipkart
  • Amazon
  • vivo partner retail stores across the country

The colours are Nebula Teal and Prism Black. The phone is made at vivo’s Greater Noida facility, which matters if you care about local manufacturing, and frankly it matters for service parts too.

Launch offers worth knowing about

Nobody should pay sticker price for this phone in launch week. The offers are generous, and they differ a little between online and offline.

Online, you choose one of three: ₹26,400 instant cashback on selected bank cards, a 10% exchange bonus, or no-cost EMI for up to 24 months. With the cashback, the effective price drops to ₹1,93,599.

Offline, the deal is slightly sweeter if you have an old phone to trade. You get up to ₹26,400 cashback or up to 12% exchange bonus under the V-Upgrade programme, plus EMIs from ₹7,333 per month on a 30-month no-cost plan with zero down payment. There is also up to 40% off V-Shield screen damage protection and extended warranty. On a foldable, I would seriously take the screen cover. Inner displays are still the most expensive part to replace.

Both routes include three months of Google AI Pro at no extra cost. Buyers also get priority walk-in access to try the vivo Vision Discovery Edition mixed-reality headset at 15 vivo exclusive stores in 10 cities. That one is a nice extra, not a reason to buy.

Display and design

Open it up and you get an 8.02-inch main display. Closed, the cover screen is 6.51 inches, which is close to a regular slab phone, so you are not stuck with a narrow remote-control shape when the phone is shut. Both panels are ZEISS Master Color Displays with 1-120Hz adaptive refresh, and vivo quotes up to 5,000 nits of local peak brightness. Take that last figure as a lab number for small HDR highlights. It is not what the whole screen does outdoors.

Durability is rated IPX8, IPX9 and IP5X, covering immersion, high-pressure water jets and dust protection. vivo’s own disclaimer is refreshingly honest here: it says not to use the phone at the beach or pool, and not to charge it while wet. Follow that advice. A hinge is still a hinge.

Performance and battery

The chip is the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, which vivo says it co-developed with MediaTek and tuned specifically for foldables. Paired with 12GB of RAM, it should have no trouble running several apps side by side, which is the whole point of a phone like this.

The battery is the headline for me. A 6,900mAh cell in a book-style foldable is huge, and vivo calls it India’s biggest battery in the category. It uses a fifth-generation silicon anode and what vivo describes as third-generation semi-solid-state battery tech designed to hold up better in low temperatures. Charging is 80W wired and 40W wireless. Foldables have always had a battery anxiety problem because two screens drain fast, so this is the upgrade I would notice every single day.

Cameras

The main camera is a 200MP ZEISS unit with T* coating and optical stabilisation. Next to it is a ZEISS APO telephoto camera using Sony’s LYTIA 602 sensor, with telephoto macro and up to 100x HyperZoom. Treat 100x as a party trick. The useful range will be much shorter, as it is on every phone, including the vivo X500 series we covered last month.

Video goes up to 4K 60fps in Dolby Vision. And because it folds, you get a couple of tricks slab phones cannot do: a Cover Screen Teleprompter so you can read a script while filming yourself with the main cameras, and Split-Screen Preview for checking shots as you take them. If you make Reels or YouTube videos, those are actually handy.

OriginOS 7 and the multitasking features

This is where vivo has put real effort. OriginOS 7 ships on the X Fold6 out of the box, and the foldable-specific pieces are:

  • Origin Workbench: one primary task with up to four supporting apps around it.
  • Multi-Split Screen: up to four resizable windows side by side.
  • AI Cross-App Drag: pull content between apps, for example lifting text out of an image and dropping it into a translator.
  • Desktop Mode: plug into a compatible PC or TV for multi-window work with a keyboard and mouse.

There is also a set of AI tools for work: AI Recorder for transcripts with speaker labels and summaries, AI Captions for live subtitles, Smart Call Assistant, and an AI File Manager that names and summarises documents. vivo notes these depend on app, region and language, so do not assume every one works in your language on day one.

One thing the launch material does not state is how many years of Android updates the phone will get. At this price I would want that in writing, so ask at the store or check the product page before paying.

Should you buy the vivo X Fold6?

Buy it if you want the biggest battery you can get in a foldable, you actually use split-screen apps for work, and you can stack the cashback or a good exchange value to bring the price under two lakh. Skip it if you mainly want a great camera phone. A regular flagship gets you most of the imaging for far less, and I would point you at something like the iPhone 18 Pro or a non-folding vivo X-series phone instead.

For me, the X Fold6 is a luxury buy with one very practical strength. That battery fixes the thing I liked least about older foldables. The price is the only part that hurts. Full terms for each offer are in vivo India’s official X Fold6 press release.
